ONLINE LEARNING EXPERIENCES

For a long time Sarah has wanted to develop a range of online tutorials that focus on the development and creation of depth and detail in botanical and natural history illustration, using pen and ink, but also watercolour and gouache too.

There will be a detailed PDF accompanying each tutorial video. Not only that, some of the videos will take place on location. As well as focusing on depth and detail in your illustrations she will show you how to recognise the different visual layers when working on location, so that you will experience a holistic approach in understanding and illustrating your chosen subjects and the habitats in which they live.

The main pens used for the pen and ink videos will be fine-line pens and Sarah will also introduce you to the Kuretake Bimoji Fude Pens. They are classed as brush pens, but in actual fact some of the nibs are quite firm. The ink they produce is a lovely dense black.

For working in watercolour and/or gouache Sarah will recommend an affordable range of excellent quality paints, although of course you can use those that you have already.
